CONTRACT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

SCOTIABANK GROUP ARCHIVES:
CONTRACT ARCHIVIST - NATIONAL TRUST RECORDS

The Scotiabank Group Archives is an information centre maintained by the the
Scotiabank Group to protect, preserve & facilitate the use of
permanent-value records in all media. Exercising initiative and judgement in
responding to the frequent unusual situations that arise in a research
facility, the candidate should be a team player, with excellent oral and
written communication skills, who has demonstrated experience in processing
and managing archival records.

This 35 week contract will involve: the appraisal and transfer, of all
permanent and archival National Trust and MICC records; the processing of
those records according to standards established by the Canadian Council of
Archives, using the procedures of the Scotiabank group Archives; the
provision of research support to the Corporate Archivist and the Assistant
Manager on legal issues related to corporate records; the analysis of
records transfer sheets to identify archival records; the investigation of
conversion to alternate storage (film and/or digital), of National Trust
records transferred to the Archives, as well as inactive records stored in
Stratford; and the establishment of procedures for future transfers of records.

The candidate should possess an MAS, or other post secondary archival
education, have formal RAD training, possess demonstrated historical
research skills, and be experienced in the archival appraisal of business
records.
