Hello Students,
The Nursing Students' Association at York University (NSAY) and The
Faculty of Health Student Caucus (FHSC) are proud to collaborate with
OneMatch Stem Cell and Marrow Network at Canadian Blood Services, and are
looking for
enthusiastic student leaders to assist with an upcoming University Get
Swabbed Challenge occurring on TUESDAY NOVEMBER 27, 2012. The Get Swabbed
challenge is an event where students will have an opportunity to sign up
to
become a potential stem cell donor. During the month of November,
all universities across Canada are participating in a challenge to get as
many potential donors signed up with the OneMatch Stem Cell and Marrow
registry.
This provides a great opportunity to not only help close to 1000
Canadian patients who are currently waiting for a stem cell donor, but
also any patient around the world!
Duties of a volunteer:
? Interacting with potential donors and communicating with them
the importance of signing up for the OneMatch registry
? Understanding and explaining the special need for optimal donors
? Provide donors with a swab station orientation and direct questions
to appropriate staff
? Be available to be present at the Get Swabbed Challenge swabbing event
location on:
Tuesday November 27 9:30am - 3pm
? Be available to help promote the Swab Challenge event at any one of
the BLOOD DONOR CLINICS scheduled in November at York University on:
Monday November 19th 11am - 2pm
Tuesday November 20th 11am - 2pm
Thursday November 22nd 11am - 2pm
Friday November 23rd 11am - 1pm
