Organized by South Asia Partnership Canada with the generous support

the Canadian International Development Agency.  The Annual Forum will
focus on increasing Canadian collaboration for better South Asian
programming, both in Canada and in South Asia.

The annual forum will provide organizations information to improve

activities and programs, promote networking and create contacts, with
a
view to increase the interaction of a variety of different Canadian
organizations and institutions, and create opportunities for
collaboration and more effective intervention based on an improved

Conference on Reducing Poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean:
Challenges for the new Millennium

Organized by the Canadian Foundation for the Americas (FOCAL) and the
Ottawa/Outaouais Chapter of the Society for International Development
(SID).

This conference will examine the economics and sociology of poverty
and
explore viable, integrated strategies for reducing poverty in the
region.  The recommendations and policy initiatives resulting from the

conference will be submitted to the ministerial meeting convend by the

Inter-American Council for Integral Development of the Organization of

American States, for February 1997.

Minimum requirements:
Education:  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or other
related field of study.
Experience:  Four years of combined experience in assisting computer

Pro,
Visual Basic or similar PC languages and in the implementation and
maintenance of NOVELL networks in small to medium size offices that
require electronic communications with the central site.  Knowledge of

PAHO operating procedures and practical experience with PAHO field
offices would be an asset.
Languages:  Very good knowledge of English with a working knowledge of

Spanish.

Experience:  Four years of professional administrative/managerial
experience with responsibilities in budget and program planning,
financial management, project administration, human resources
management, and/or procurement preferably in the area of formal
publication production.
Skills:  Thorough knowledge of, and a high degree of specialization
in,
the managerial and technical aspects and requirements of the processes

involved in the international and multilingual production, promotion,
marketing, and evaluation of publications.  Specialization is required

in program management, budget forecasting, control, and reporting,
product monitoring and assessment, market analyses, dissemination
techniques, copyright matters, technological transfer, and resource
networking.
Languages:  Very good knowledge of English with a working knowledge of

Spanish.
