On Thursday Jan 18 at 8am PST, we invite you to a webinar about childbirth
stories. Info is below.

For those in the lower mainland of BC Canada, there is wellbeing festival
on Sat Jan 20 in the afternoon. It is a knowledge translation event for a
paper that i published about the health of Black, Indigenous and Women of
Color's health in Canada, titled Flames of Transformation:

It's hosted by Maternal and Infant Health Canada (MIHCan), a global public
health collaborative that aims to improve the health of young ones, the
environment and those who identify as women through research, education and
innovation--boosting international indigenous systems of health promotion

On Monday Feb 12, we are marking the City of Vancouver's Mayoral
Proclamation--Feb 12 is the International Day of Sexual and Reproductive
Health Awareness with a Facebook Livestream event featuring MIHCan's recent
training and research in India by our Doctors of Traditional Medicine, Dr
Emilie Salomons and Dr Kate Levett. It promises to be an enriching
experience about the transfer of TCM knowledge to midwives, doulas, OB/GYNs
and others in India,  so tune in for updates at:

Finally, MIHCan is starting a book club and invites you to join!
We are pleased to share that this year we are launching a book club. This
book club will meet monthly on a virtual platform such as Zoom and will
cover topics relevant to MIHCan's work. Please email

any book suggestions, we will get a book and meeting date organized for
discussion. Currently, we are looking at reading the book *The Immortal
Life of Henrietta Lacks *by Rebecca Skloot to start, particularly because
it seems widely accessible online. If you are interested in participating,
please indicate in your email if you have read this already.

*Laura Pascoe (PhD, CD)*
Laura Pascoe is a certified birth doula and co-founder of the Doula Support
Foundation. In addition to her hands-on birth work, Laura works as an
internationally experienced researcher, practitioner, and educator
advancing evidence-based solutions to prevent violence and advance gender
equality and health for all. Her work primarily focuses on engaging men and
boys as co-beneficiaries, stakeholders, and allies in creating a caring,
just, equal, and peaceful world for all. She lives in Vermont with her
family.

*Angela Douglas*
Angela Douglas is a marketing communications professional, author, and
proud mother. She writes thrillers and non-fiction. This story marked her
return to writing after a lengthy absence. Angela’s debut psychological
thriller EVERY FALL, published by Rising Action Publishing Collective,
comes out in January 2025. Angela lives in the Okanagan with her husband
and kids. When she is not working or spending time with family, she hides
in her studio with her bulldog, Frankie, writing the next book.
