Hi:
The Toronto Christian Resource Centre is a community agency in Regent
Park serving low income marginally housed people and shelter residents.
It operates three social purpose enterprises:
* Asset Mapping Research Project recruits, hires, trains and
supports marginally housed people to share their assets (skills,
talents, gifts, abilities, interests, experiences, knowledge and dreams)
and in the process work on contracts conducting individual and community
mapping, developing detailed questionnaires (Capacity Inventory),
conducting quality one to one interviews with other low / no income
service users, and entering and analysing data;
* Self-Reliance Worker's Co-op is a self-help group of drop-in
users and rooming house residents who perform short notice odd-jobs and
part-time work for individuals, organizations, institutions, businesses
and BIAs;
* Sunshine Multicultural Catering is comprised of a group of local
residents from all over the world, specializing in making dishes from
their home country for meetings and all kinds of events;
All of these ventures do receive Staff support. For more information

Subject: [SDOH] homelessness and social enterprise
Hello
I am looking for information (examples, case studies, environmental
scans, etc) where homeless shelters or agencies working with the
homeless have developed social enterprises or businesses with the
homeless where the homeless help to run it and the revenues go back to
support them.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Steve Pedersen, MPH
