Perhaps the major reason why there is no anthology of readings in  
history of thought, like those available in the history of  
political theory, is simply a problem of market demand? 
 
Of course, the underlying problem is the one suggested by someone  
in the postings about why we should study history of economic  
thought: in political theory, the study of theory is the study of  
the history of political thought; in economics, the two are  
distinctly separate.  Since there are few history of economic  
thought courses these days, the market is simply not big enough  
to support texts.
