Quite right. My bad recall. It was not to Schmoller, but to "Dr. Wilhelm Roscher, Professor der Staats- und Cameralwissenschaften, an der Universität in Leipszig etc., in achtungsvoller Verehrung."

Menger's work was dedicated to Wilhelm Roscher, not to Gustav Schmoller.

It is better to read original texts in German, but this does not mean that we do not need a good English translation of Menger, Weber or Marx, whatever.
