Yes, he certainly spelled it as he wanted it, Hirschman, though I have read he was named at birth not A.O. Hirschman, but Otto Albert Hirschmann.

I taught history of economic thought during the last decades to students and repeated regularly that Schumpeter should not be spelled as SHUMPETER, let me suggest that Hirshman should be written as Hirschman..
