There's quite a bit about Benjamin Franklin, who was  first an idol/model
for
Orion Clemens. Fanning in *Mark Twain and Orion Clemens"  argues that Sam
tried to "out-Franklin" his brother, making many of the same  steps in his
travels and developments as Franklin. I've yet to see direct MT  references
to
Jefferson.
