Barb,

At first glance, yes. But only at first glance. Gerald Handerson Thayer
(1883-1939) was the product of Thayer's first marriage--to Kate Bloede on
5 June 1875. He didn't marry poor Emma until 3 September 1891. Emma's obit
lists no children. *Who Was Who in America* gives Abbott Handerson
Thayer's stats (1:1225) and says that he was "Joint author with his son of
Concealing Coloration in the Animal Kingdom, 1909." Got his dates from the
catalog.
