Dear Hal,

Three excellent books not already mentioned are:

Overland with Mark Twain: James B. Pond's Photographs and Journal of the
North American Lecture Tour of 1895. Edited by Alan Gribben & Nick
Karanovich. ISBN 1-880817-00-4

Mark Twain in the Movies A Meditation with Pictures by John Seelye. ISBN
0-670-45830-9 This is a really neat book, as it contains a flip page movie
of the man in the upper right page corners!!

Mark Twain: A Bibliography by Bill McBride ISBN 0-9330313-00-3 This is
actually a photographic supplement to previous (& outdated) bibliographical
information, but it contains wonderful photographs of first editions and
Mark Twain.

Special editions of magazines were produced that printed many images of
Twain, notably the Mentor Magazine volume 12, number 4 (May 1924), which is
profusely illustrated. There are also some specially made limited
productions of certain Mark Twain books that are known as "extra
illustrated," which contain alot of extra illustrations, & even genuine
photographs, but these have no ISBN and are mainly high priced books made
specifically for Mark Twain collectors. I have noticed that the attributed
dates for certain images vary significantly between various publications.

Sincerely,

Bob Slotta, Mark Twain Historian
