Good morning!

The Mark Twain House’s “Trouble at Home” virtual interview series continues this Thursday, June 25, with Alan Rankin, whose tale of his discovery of Nina Gabrilowitsch’s 1924 diary has been featured on the Center for Mark Twain Studies site (here<https://marktwainstudies.com/finding-the-lost-diary-of-mark-twains-granddaughter-nina-gabrilowitsch/?highlight=rankin>) and occasioned much discussion.

Alan came across the diary, inherited by a friend, back in 1992, and in the pre-Google days it took four months for him to learn that the little book that was entrancing him and his pals had been penned by Mark Twain’s granddaughter. It is a rare look at the happier part of Nina’s life.

Since then, he has been working on his own book on the diary, which he will be working on as a Quarry Farm Fellow. I’ll be interviewing him Thursday, and hope you’ll tune in! To register, go here: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/trouble-at-home-2/register. (For international Forum members, when prompted for a U.S. Zip code, just write “12345.”)

Past sessions, including our popular June 11 interview with Mallory Howard and Jason Scappaticci on Clemens and spiritualism, are available here:

All best,

Steve
