Does anyone know of a comprehensive "reader" covering political 
economy/history of economic thought?  I'm looking for something as the 
basis of a class on the theory and history of political economy. It needs 
to be clear and the selections well chosen (and hopefully introduced in 
some way).  If it mentioned some of the "pre-liberals" (e.g., political 
arithmetik, cameralism, mercantilism), that would be an added bonus.  Just 
so we don't think we moderns invented everything ... 
 
Suggestions?  I'd also be interested in current preferences for textbooks 
in this field; though I prefer that students read the originals, if only in 
part, than what someone says about them.
