I fully support the view that both economic history and history of economic 
thought should be taught to the students of economics, preferably at the 
second year level. Prior to this, and in my view, it is important to teach 
the students the structure of knowledge and especially how to evaluate the 
relative merits of alternative/rival theories. Otherwise there is some risk 
that a student may simply become a dogmatic admirer of someone's thoughts. 
These days, given the international nature of the students of economics, 
some exposure to scientific method, at an early stage of the university 
courses, would be very valuable.
