The Arts Advocate surveys party leaders on heritage issues

I'm pleased to share with you this copy of a special edition of The Arts
Advocate*, that includes the responses of the three party leaders to a
survey on arts and heritage issues. It draws out the parties' positions on
critical issues in our sector.

Now celebrating its 10th year of publication, The Arts Advocate has been
providing the Ontario Museum Association and many of its members with
up-to-date and up-to-the-minute news on cultural policy and politics in
Ontario for many years now. The Arts Advocate is also a Conference 2003
sponsor.
Of particular note for the heritage sector is the expanded promise of the
Ontario Liberals to increase operating funding to community museums. (See
question 7 of the questionnaire).

Putting heritage on the Ontario agenda:

Over the course of the next week, I encourage all members of the OMA, and
your stakeholders, to take the opportunity to raise questions about heritage
issues, like operating funding and amendments to the Ontario Heritage Act,
with candidates from all three parties.

Marie G. Lalonde
Executive Director
