I think it must be true in HUCK FINN that the offending epithet is confined
to
dialogue, and that its use therein is highly realistic for its time and
place
(continuing long afterwards also).  The same is true for Faulkner too: such
language is not the author's own.
    HUCK FINN is so much more than a comment on racism . . . .
