Dear Colleagues...

This is an update to my recent posting for information about
Toronto-area vendors who provide quality scanning services to the
general public, particularly of fragile books.

At first glance, most service providers seem to focus on specific media,
and not too many on books. In fact, as far as I can see only the last on
this list - Access Document Conversions - might do books.

And as most of you know, it really depends on what the goal is - that
is, preservation or access, or both. And given that scanning is not like
photocopying from a labour point of view, and depending on what the goal
is, costs will no doubt vary considerably. Anyway, here's the
consolidated list from the responses. Note that this does not include
information about Internet Archive or OJS services which are really
geared to institutions wanting to contribute to Open Access initiatives.
