CONTRACT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

SCOTIABANK GROUP ARCHIVES:
RAD CONVERSION CONTRACT ARCHIVIST

The  Scotiabank  Group  Archives  is  an  information  centre  maintained by the
Scotiabank  Group  to  protect, preserve & facilitate the use of permanent-value
records  in  all media. Exercising initiative and judgement in responding to the
frequent  unusual  situations  that  arise in a research facility, the candidate
should  be  a team player, with excellent oral and written communication skills,
who has demonstrated experience in processing and managing archival records.

Only  candidates  with  the following minimum qualifications will be considered:
experience  in  archival  description using RAD, an undergraduate degree, and an
MAS  or  equivalent  training. He/she should also be familiar with DB/TextWorks,
and possess demonstrated historical research skills.

This 16 week contract, which will start as soon as possible after the March 10th
closing  date,  has  the possibility of extension for up to 10 additional weeks.
Since  1994  the  Scotiabank Group Archives has used RAD for the creation of any
new  finding  aids.  However,  very  little  retrospective  conversion  has been
undertaken.  This  project  will  involve the conversion of all existing finding
aids to RAD standards.

Salary Range: $25,100 - $31,800 - $37,200 depending on qualifications.

The   successful   candidate   in  the  8  week  contract  currently  advertised
(competition  closes  February  11th)  will automatically be considered for this
position.
