I wanted to express my gratitude to both the Archives Association of Ontario and the Association of Canadian Archivists for their balanced, thoughtful recent statements concerning the war in Israel and Gaza.

I know we are all heartsick and in pain as we witness the devastating consequences of this war. I know too that as archivists, and as human beings, we should not stand by. We can speak out and support the UN vote for a ceasefire in Gaza. And we can support humanitarian and heritage organizations seeking to save lives and preserve the tangible and intangible heritage of the Jewish and Palestinian peoples.

I am proud to be a member of professional associations that have the courage to not remain silent in the face of such human tragedy.
