Hello,

This is a reminder that the AAO East/est is offering the following in-person workshop on property research in partnership with the Museum of Lennox and Addington (Napanee) on April 20. This workshop is targeted towards researchers, but new professionals or anyone seeking to brush up on their skills are welcome! Registration is open until April 18th or all spots are filled.

Unlocking the Past: Keys to your Home’s Story

Are you curious about your house's past, but don't know where to start? Wishing the walls could share their secrets? Come join us for an enlightening workshop and learn how to unravel the history of your house. Our guest speaker Megan Hobson will share her professional insight on navigating and interpreting historical records and will equip you with the tools to unlock your own home’s story.

In this two-part workshop, Megan will kick off the first session with an overview of available records and techniques for interpreting them effectively. From census data to property deeds, you'll gain the skills needed to piece together your home's story.

In the second part, dive deeper into practical application. Through insightful case studies of historic properties from Lennox and Addington county, you'll witness firsthand how to uncover the captivating tales woven into the fabric of your own home.

Format: Presentation, examples, discussion.

When: Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm
