Good afternoon colleagues,

On Monday, September 26th the AAO Southwestern Ontario Chapter (SWOC) will be holding a tour of the Middlesex Centre Archives.

The Middlesex Centre Archives was established in 2013 through the efforts of a dedicated group of people from the Middlesex Centre Historical Society. The mission of the Middlesex Centre Archives is to "acquire, preserve and make available to the public, records of enduring value to Middlesex Centre and in particular to the former Townships of Delaware, Lobo, London and Portions of Westminster." In 2015 the archives hired a part-time Archivist through a 2-year Trillium grant, and also in 2017 through a 1-year DHCP Federal grant. In addition to these grants, the archives has received a number of financial donations from individuals, local companies, and community and service organizations to help continue the important work they do to preserve the history of Middlesex County.

In 2022 Middlesex Centre Archives received the AAO Institutional Award in recognition of the hard work that has been made over the past decade to establish this community archives. We are pleased to be able to offer SWOC members a tour of the facility and meet volunteers and staff.

The tour will begin at 10 am.
