Please join us for our first Emerging Leader Forum Speaker Series of the 
'09 season on Monday, September 22, 2008, as Hon. Michael Kirby, former 
Senator and Chair of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, speaks about 
the Canadian healthcare system from a mental health perspective.

Hon. Michael Kirby, Former Senator and Chair of the Mental Health 
Commission of Canada 
The Honourable Michael Kirby served the Senate of Canada for 22 years. 
Under his leadership from 1999-2006, the Standing Senate Committee on 
Social Affairs, Science and Technology Committee produced 11 health care 
reports, including the first-ever national report on mental health, mental 
illness and addiction, Out of the Shadows at Last.  This report led to his 
appointment as Chair of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, where he 
is currently leading the development of a national strategy on mental 
health, and an anti-stigma campaign.
