Mollie,

We've used Photovoice several times recently. The process that we've
followed has been based on the one outlined by Caroline Wang on her website
photovoice.com.

We've used it with students as part of a Health Promoting Schools needs
assessment. It is a great way to get students involved and the photos with
captions can be a powerful motivator with teachers and BOTs. We have also
used it with children to get them to anser the question -- What do you like
about living in your community and what would you like to see improved? We
are also trying it with adults for an evaluation of a commuity garden
project as well as a housing and health project.

We haven't done any formal evaluation on Photovoice but have learned lots of
lessons. It's time consuming but well worth it when done right. In general
it's fair to say that both the participants and health promoters have
enjoyed the process and found it a useful way to document issues.

Cheers,

Steve Shaffelburg

Has anyone used "photovoice" as a method for working in community health? If
so, have you evaluated your experience?

As well, do you know anything about the "Fogo Process"?
