I am not sure that ALL 'this stuff about equilibrium is from physics and 
engineering'. I think a good case can be made for suggesting that the 
relevant scientific paradigm of 'equilibrium' for economics is biological, 
not mechanical. From a mathematical standpoint our discipline is a special 
case of ecology.
