We join the rest of the history of economics community in mourning the death of Mauro Boianovsky.   Although each of us had encountered Mauro at various points in our careers, his relationship to Duke predates the foundation of the Center for the History of Political Economy, his having visited Duke several times and having co-organized the HOPE conference, "Robert Solow and the Development of Growth Economics" in 2008.  We were privileged to host him as a Senior Visiting Scholar at the Center in 2015-2016.  And we were honored when, as President of HES, he organized the 2016 HES conference at Duke at the end of that academic year, returning in 2017 to co-organize the HOPE conference on "The Political Economy of Development Economics."   Mauro's intellectual curiosity, his dry wit, and his erudition shined through in all that he did. He was a friend to all of us at the Center, and we will miss him immensely.
