Dear Colleagues
Today 7 December the great Australian economist Geoff Harcourt, 90, passed away after a short illness.
He was one of the doyens of Australian economics.
He was founder member of the history of economic thought society of Australia and a distinguished fellow of the society. He was awarded of Companion in the Order of Australia - that nation’s highest honour – in 2018 citing his ‘eminent service to higher education as an academic economist and author, particularly in the fields of post-Keynesian economics, capital theory and economic thought’. He wrote an excellent biography of Joan Robinson (With Prue Kerr). Many scholars will recall that Geoff was a mentor to hundreds of HET students and that many, including myself owed their careers to his influence and advice. we will sorely miss him

Kind regards

Alex Millmow
