Thank you for the information on Dunning and Burgess.
 
As to Commons, the insinuation came from Mark Perlman, whose father Selig  
was a Commons student and associate.  According to Mark, Commons accepted  
Selig because he needed him, and Commons' feelings toward Jews were  known.  
Someone may have more information.
