In the _Mark Twain Journal_, Vol. 31, No. 2, Fall 1993, Miriam
Shillingsburg writes an article titled "The Influential Mr. Blank of
Bendigo" (pp. 28-31) and theorizes Mr. Blank was actually one of three
possible men: Frank Fearn, John Gregory Edwards, or John Neill Macartney
with the most likely candidate being Frank Fearn.
