Don't know about potatoes, but he explains how to appropriate a watermelon.
Also in 1934 Campbell Soup Co. "appropriated" Twain's image holding a huge
tomato for an ad that says: "Even Mark Twain would have been stumped"--I
think
Barbara may have this ad; I look at it every day in my kitchen.
