dear colleagues,

i remember -- or think i remember -- that it was here that
years ago sb. came up with the idea of linking Tom Sawyer's
"liberality" giving 40 dollars to Jim to the "40 acres and
a mule". Can't find it in my archive, nor on the web.
anybody with better memory than my poor addled brain?

best,
w
