A colleague is working on a magazine article and poses the
following comment and asks if this is correct:

Near the end of Clemens's life (the last ten years or so), his public
appearances were more profitable than his books.

Has anyone done any studies to determine which sources of income
were the most lucrative during Clemens's last decade -- writings vs.
speeches/lectures/advertising endorsements?
