The Mark Twain Circle will sponsor one session at the 2007 Modern
Language Association National Convention in Chicago. The dates for
the Convention are 27-30 December, 2007. The center for sessions
on English and American Literature will be the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

The topic is open, but the Circle is especially interested in
receiving proposals related to Mark Twain and the metropolis -- New
York, St. Louis, London, Paris, Calcutta, Chicago, etc.

Presenters are required to be MLA members in good standing by April 1
2007. Proposals of no more than 150 words, transmitted as attached
documents, should be sent to Professor Bruce Michelson, University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign [[log in to unmask]] no later than March
15, 2007. Proposals should include a brief statement of academic
affiliations or qualifications, along with an accurate e-mail address
for our response. Please use the subject line "2007 MLA Convention"
in your e-mail message.
