I was alerted by Barb Schmidt that a question was directed to me about 
whether Mark Twain ever owned a copy of John G Well's legal form book, EVERY 
MAN IN OWN LAWYER (San Francisco, 1869).

I cannot read the previous reply from Jerry Vorpahl, but I have seen no 
evidence that MT ever saw Wells' book. By the time the Wells book was 
published in SF in 1869, Twain was on to other things. His last visit to SF 
had been the year before and his days of "Third House" journalism were 
behind him, so by that time he probably had no need for such a book.
