I read "pison" as a dialectic rendering of "poison".  He means the length of
the funeral was so long that he was bored nearly to death, as if it were
"poison".

I read "a three-day draft" as meaning a check payable in three days, but I
am probably reading that wrong.  But the word "draft" in this case means
something like what we modern people would call a "check".  Those little
pieces of paper on which I write dollar amounts which I then hope I can
cover.

Wiser heads will probably have better explanations.
