I would like to second this praise for Jim Zwick's posting. I, too,
found Britton's mock-review mean-spirited, juvenile, and misogynistic.
In recent months, I have noticed a tendency on the part of a few on this
list toward ridicule rather than insightful discussion. I heartily
praise those who have largely ignored the increasing petulance of some
and have continued actual discussion of Twain's work. I laugh along
with Twain, too, but what I have seen here recently hasn't been terribly
funny, only pathetic.
