Give me a break, guys.

There is no doubt that Sam would have rooted for his hometown St. Louis
Cardinals, which he would have listened to growing up on the radio, if
radios and the Cardinals had been invented in those days.

On the other hand he had some real admiration for P. T. Barnum, meaning that
perhaps after all he might have liked those damn Yankees.
