For Mark Twain on ancestry, see his "Plymouth Rock and the Pilgrims,"
available in _Mark Twain: Collected Tales, Sketches, Speeches, and
Essays 1852-1890_ (Modern Library), where he traces his own ancestry
for the New England Society of Philadelphia in 1881. The speech is a
real delight!
