In Vol. 1, page 737 (bottom line) of the published Doten Diaries, Doten recorded visiting the Whitman claim near Como, in the eastern part of the Pine Nut Range.  Gid Whiteman's "Lost Cement Mine" discussed by Mark Twain is in the Sierra Nevada range in Mono County California, many miles west of Como, Nevada Territory. Note the difference in spelling. There were hundreds of mining districts in Territorial Nevada, and many claims in each district. Each claim had a name in the book of the district recorder. Duplication and similarity of claim names in different districts was to be expected. And here, there is also a difference in spelling
