Dear Peter,

The account by James Pond (Twain's lecture agent at the time) of this event,
is printed in the wonderful book titled, "Overland With Mark Twain: James B.
Pond's Photographs and Journal of the North American Lecture Tour of 1895".
ISBN1-880817-00-4. This book also reproduces two different photographs
taken behind Twain's back while viewing Fort Missoula on August 6th, and
explains how Mark Twain was actually arrested as a practical joke.

Twainiacally Yours,

Bob Slotta
