Hello all,

I have presented on Twain twice at ASA. The first time I submitted an
individual paper and was matched thematically with two other
presenters (all papers were related to Hawaii, not Twain). Last year,
I put together a panel of presenters on the theme, "Mark Twain
Abroad." I found co-presenters via this listserve. The other task is
to find a moderator. The application process was quite easy.

My understanding of American Studies is that it doesn't identify any
specific content as a discipline but promotes a general
interdisciplinary openness to a variety of work.

If anyone has more specific questions about the process of applying,
feel free to contact me.
