Was Huck 12? 8?

Anyone seen the movie yet?  The actor who plays Huck is a 12-year old who
looks like an 8-year old.  Specific references by Twain regarding Huck's
age escape me, if they ever existed, but I picture Huck as (at least) a
teenager.
