Another yet-to-be published work on the subject of racism and _Huck
Finn_ would be _Was Huck Black? Mark Twain and African-American Voices_
by Shelley Fisher Fishkin due out in the spring from Oxford UP.  Author
contends that Huck is based on a young black boy named Jimmy who once
served Twain in a hotel.  Sounds like interesting reading.
