Elmira College announced that Dr. Joseph (Joe) Lemak has been named the
Director of the Elmira College Center for Mark Twain Studies effective
January 1, 2016.  Dr. Lemak is a native son of Elmira, New York.  He
received his Master's and Doctoral degree in Roman History from the
University of Buffalo.  His past publications dealt with the reception of
the classical tradition in the United States, specifically in upstate New
York during the time that Mark Twain was in Elmira.  Additionally, he is
the past editor of the Chemung Historical Journal, a publication which
deals with the local history of Elmira and the Chemung Valley region.  For
the past five years, Joe was Director of the Academic Writing Program at
Elmira College.

The December edition of the Center's newsletter will introduce Joe as well
as Nathaniel Ball, Archivist and Curator; Dr. Matthew Seybold, Americanist;
and Trish Cordell, Center Secretary.
