Since I posted my question, I've been to a
bookstore and have examined the set. I was
very pleased with the quality of the books. There
was nothing to worry about concerning the type face.
It's plenty big and easy to read. I think it looks
charming as well. And the illustrations are glorious.

Today I ordered the set from the New York City
bookstore that was mentioned here previously.
I got the bargain price of $194.50 + $20.00
shipping. Delivery in four weeks....

The "Trade Edition" no doubt just refers to what's being
offered to the public. I've heard there's a "Library
Edition" too, though I don't know what the differences would be.
