Is there a recommended source that documents Clemens' reaction to the
murder of Albert D. Richardson by Daniel McFarland and the subsequent
trial? Given Richardson's influence on Clemens' career and Clemens'
later involvement with Richardson's widow Abby Sage Richardson in
the production of _Prince and the Pauper_, it seems curious that
Clemens would never have commented on the entire affair. However,
I have not been able to find any comments about it in any volume
of _Letters_ or _Notebooks and Journals_. Did Clemens ever make any
public or known private comment about the McFarland/Richardson murder case?
