Is it possible Twain would have known the definition
of "mirror" includes, "wonder, as if by magic,
speculum of a bird's wing;" or "mere" is "sea, inlet,
lake, pool, landmark, bare, fully realized or
developed, absolute, pure, merit, war club, munition,
boundary, limit, morn, segment, metamere, " and I
almost forgot, "fen" that means "fin." Or that
"mear" is "mere" and "mare" that is "smart, trestle,
dark side on the surface of the sun or moon, evil
preternatural being conceived as causing nightmare?"
I won't even suggest he might have had knowledge of
"imagination meaning "genius, plot" or that "bring" is
to "trace, derive, carry word or news to." No, I'm
sure he didn't have time to measure his EVERY word! Oh
yes, "mirror also reflects "more at smile."
