Dear Bob Michael:
The Levins were childhood acquaintances of Clemens, twins, known
collectively
as "Twenty-two" (a pun on "Twice Levin"). This is thought to be one of
the possible sources of the unusual numerical name "No. 44" for the
character
in _No. 44, The Mysterious Stranger_.
