I second Larry Howe's call for Jocelyn to stay with the Forum.

I would also like to go beyond Larry's call for David Fears to behave
himself. I think David has crossed the line too many times to trust him to
reform. In addition to repeatedly irritating and offending other members of
the Forum, he also drawn otherwise rationale people into making personal
attacks that serve no purpose other than to underline the obvious and make
everyone who reads the postings (with one possible exception) cringe.
Indeed, on more than one occasion, his inappropriate and provocative remarks
have tempted me to post satiric rejoinders. In fact, before I read Jocelyn's
sad note, I was seriously considering posting the URL of a website with
savage student evaluations of David's teaching skills.

I now wish publicly to ask David to withdraw from the Forum and not force
the Forum administrator to expel him. David has his own web pages; those of
us who want to learn what is he doing will know where to find him.
