I think it's important to remember that "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was written
while slavery was a fact, while HF was written after slavery was
eliminated.

P.S.

I just read a biography of Edward Abbey and was struck by how Twain-like
he and his work is in some respects.  Does anybody else have any Twain
heir candidates?
